Dear Centennial families,
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that one of our Centennial students, Elijah Champion, who graduated three weeks ago, died Sunday. We ask that your thoughts go out to their family.
To help students deal with this tragic situation, both Centennial and PSD Mental Health team staff will be available for in-person or virtual counseling to help students process their emotions. Katie - 970-488-4948 and Jo -970-488-4954 will be available via email and can provide support via phone or Microsoft Teams for support.
It’s normal for humans to experience different reactions. We encourage parents and guardians to maintain as normal a routine as possible and be available to talk with their student. Should you need additional support beyond what our counseling team is ready to provide, SummitStone’s Community Crisis Center, 1217 Riverside Ave. in Fort Collins, is available 24/7 at 970-494-4200 for crisis concerns, including suicide assessments.
Additional community resources for supporting your child with grief and loss include:
- Pathways of Northern Colorado (hospice): 970-663-3500
- SummitStone Health Partners: 970-494-4200
- Mental Health Connections: 970-221-3308
Thank you for your continued support as we help our school community members deal with the grieving process. Life is precious. Take a moment to hug your children.
If you need anything or have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
