Students, Parents, Guardians,
Due to many influences such as dropping COVID numbers in the county, vaccinations are available, PSD asking schools to get kids back in classes, many health professionals noting students do better work in front of teacher, the need for socialization, and the survey results that showed most students and staff would like some level of face-to-face schooling, we will be begin 5th hexter in the phase 3 hybrid mode. This is a partial face to face mode if you remember from this fall in which you are divided into Group “A” (A-K) of Group “B” (L-Z) depending in the first initial of your last name. Group “A” is in class on campus Wednesday and Friday, and Group “B” is Tuesday and Thursday on campus. The first day of in class is Tuesday Feb. 16th.
Students will come to campus only on the day that is assigned to them in Synergy. Due to class size and content the Discovery class will meet everyday and follow strict COVID protocols.
If there is a COVID related reason that would keep a student from attending in person learning, the student will need to TEAMS call Mike before Wednesday, February 10th, to apply for a variance. The conditions of not coming to campus and continuing in a remote learning situation will require a student to log in to each class and understand the attention from the classroom teacher may look different than in the 100% remote mode. The students in the classroom will be every teacher’s main responsibility. The variance will be approved on a very limited basis.
COVID safety protocols will be followed by all of us when in the building. Masks are required and distances will be kept to the required 6ft for under 15 minutes, and there are sanitizer stations located throughout the building. I have confidence we can meet face-to-face in a safe manner. There is no guarantee however, and CHS will follow the guidelines regarding quarantining when needed.
As always, I am available to discuss any questions you may have.
