About Me
What is your role(s) at Centennial High School.:

Hi Dragons! I am Beth Lewis Rypma, and I teach Language Arts and Journalism (Yearbook).

How long have you worked at Centennial?:

I have worked at CHS since 2007 and started my teaching career in 1996 in Detroit, Michigan.

What do you love about working at Centennial?:

What I love about teaching at CHS is the freedom of curriculum and the ability to teach what interestes students most. I also love the small class size which permits me to get to know my students (and their needs) well.

What is a hobby you have outside of school?:

Outside of school I enjoy reading and watching independent films.

What is one piece of advice you have for students of CHS?:

My advice to all CHS students is this...1. Catch your vision; 2. Never give up that vision; 3. Always do your best and your vision will come true.

My Classroom
Courses Taught:

World Literature--where we read literature from various cultures and such things as Greek, Norse and Native American mythology.

Literacy -- where we read modern young adult novels, nonfiction memoirs, and graphic novels.

Journalism--where we build the yearbook and work on writing skills!

About My Classroom:

Every year, I try to make my classroom a supportive environment where everyone will feel comfortable taking risks and pushing themselves to their learning edge. Take a risk for learning!
