Background

The Health and Wellness Center at Centennial High School has been open since 1994 helping the students of PSD stay healthy so they can stay in school and learn.  The Health and Wellness Center is a satellite clinic of the Every Child Pediatrics based in Denver and is operated under their administration.  We are one of over 50 school-based health centers (SBHC) in the state of Colorado and the number grows each year.  School based health centers are medical clinics situated within a school allowing easy access for students to receive basic health care services minimizing time out of class.  Research and experince has shown healthy students learn better and stay in school and we are here to support that goal.

Hours and Services

The Health and Wellness Center is generally open through the week Monday through Thursday, hours posted outside the medical clinic.  Staffing resources include nurse practitioners, mental health therapists, and medical assistants. From time to time, a school district's registered nurse is here to provide school nurse services that are routine to academic settings.  The center offers on-site medical care including the treatment of minor illness and injury, physicals/wellness exams, sports physical exams, routine lab tests, management of some chronic illnesses, mental health care, and refferals to community agencies for coordinated care.  We focus on health education and guidance encouraging students to be educated health care consumers as they move toward young adulthood.

No Health Insurance?  We can help!

The center is designated as a Certified Application Assistance Site for Medicaid and CHP+ enrollment.  If a student has no health insurance we may assist with the completion of the state application for Medicaid as well as other services such as food stamps if needed.  Come to the clinic and request further information about this service if you are uninsured.

Although we do not bill for medical services at the Centennial Health and Wellness Center, we never turn away students for an inability to pay.  For students who are uninsured but do not qualify for Medicaid, we have an affordable sliding scale requiring a small charge for services based on family income.  For students with private insurance we do bill insurance for services but no copays are ever collected for clinic services. Bills generated from our office will come from Every Child Pediatrics (not Centennial HS).  If you ever recieve an unexpected bill from us or have any billing questions, please contact us at our billing line, 970-488-4990.
